Getting back to my life…
Recently, as I was reading some of the blogs I follow, I came across Barb’ s post at Before Morning Breaks. Barb mentioned that she is going on a blog diet, posting just once a week, so that she can…if I may paraphrase…’get on with her life.’
I’ve been thinking about how much I enjoy blogging and reading other people’s blog…and it really has been a joy! But I find that, as with most anything enjoyable, it can become addictive if one lets it. And I’ve let it. Now I find that I want to pursue the other joys in my life…my family, my love, my art, friends, travel, gardening, hobbies, etc, etc, etc.
So I have decided to officially join Barb in her blog diet and get on with my life. I will continue to follow my favorites, with or without a comment. I will continue to post, though probably less often. I hope, also, not to lose anyone in the process.
To kick off a new approach to this venture, I thought I’d give you a sample of what I’d like to have my garden look like this year (yeah, right!), hence the need for me to get away from the computer and begin working in my yard. These are a few of the gardens that I saw while in England and Scotland and which have provided me with some inspiration.
If only my garden could have such splendor!
Lol… a blog diet is exactly what I need too but I’m making all the excuses not to! I can see exactly where you are coming from JSD. But you’ll have to try harder than that to lose me!! Have fun and look forward to hearing about your new adventures in the future x
Thanks. Just trying to put things in perspective. 🙂
You will be missed! But, I understand completely because I’ve been moving towards one blog a week and not commenting as often. So you know, I have enjoyed your art and your writing, have loved hearing about your reflections on childhood memories and your grandchildren. Your writings on early morning hour resonated with me, so I hope you keep writing too. Best wishes with your garden. The photos are lovely!
Thanks so much! I’m not leaving…just stepping back a little.
🙂
Good luck with your garden, your life and your “diet”! I hope that you will keep in touch with us, and I hope that you will flourish in all endeavours.
By the way, I am incredibly envious that you are ready to get into the dirt: even in this crazy mild winter, my northern yard is partly frozen.
Thanks! I’m in SE Michigan, and it’s in the high 70s! Woo-hoo!
Have fun with your garden and I’ll watch for some pictures of how it’s coming along… 🙂
Hope to have fun, but my teeny-tiny garden pales in comparison to most others. Just being out in the sun is the best part. 🙂
Now…we’re a movement of two. I think there are more folks out there who really feel the same way, but have slipped quietly away without announcing it. Perhaps when the weather turns wet and cold again, I’ll do more, but for now…..I’m amazed at how many other things I’ve crossed off my wanna-do list, simply by having more time to do them now.
I don’t have plans for such a grand garden as yours. I set beans and tomatoes as my limit. I still have canning left from last year.
I look forward to hearing from you when you post. You’re always positive, insightful, and fun.
Thanks, Barb! And you are so much fun! I’m also going to work more on drawing and painting, traveling, yadda, yadda, yadda. I really like this retirement gig, or I will when I get rid of my part time job. See ya! 🙂
I understand, I know I’ve been posting a lot less. I’ve found that the time I spend posting is time I could use to garden, clean, make art….do all the things that keep my to-do list the size that is. While it is fun to put things out here, and I’m sure there are people who truly enjoy reading what’s out here, it’s a lot of work!
Yup, you said it very well!
Hope your garden is coming together just as you imagined!
Hahahaha…well, not so, but I am having fun! 🙂
I totally understand about the blog diet! Blogging takes a lot of time & it can easily interfere with being productive as well as enjoying the rest of your life. (There IS life beyond the internet!)
I will still check in on your blog on occasion & hope you’ll do the same with mine, as I too am ” on a diet”. Thanks for liking my posts.
Beautiful gardens; I wish you luck.
Yes, there is life beyond the Internet. Thanks.
Beautiful gardens!
I totally understand going “on a diet” ; am having to do that myself. Much as I enjoy the blogs, there IS life outside the internet , & it’s important to live it. I will still be checking in on your blog on occasion & hope you’ll do the same with mine.
Thanks for liking my posts.
Yes, I’ll keep checking everyone’s blog…love your art work, and am trying to get back to mine. 🙂
Hmm…a blog diet..I like it. I think it has something to do with the warmer weather, longer days…I just dont feel as motivated to be on my computer. Its a thought that has been crossing through my mind too. I am done to 2/ week and to be honest sometimes I think its a bit of work (gasp..)…but isnt love always work? I look forward to reading your one a week! Julie
I’ve been enjoying your posts…very inspiring! As you see, I’ve struggled to do one post per month…but hope to pick up the pace a little. I’m just having too much fun doing other things. 🙂
